Apotekergården

A compact, richly detailed residence with a sense of civic elegance.

Apotekergården stands as one of the city’s most emblematic examples of the Jugendstil ambition that shaped late-19th and early-20th-century Ålesund. The façade carries a restrained but memorable rhythm of shapes, with carved details and balanced proportions that speak to a town rebuilding itself after the fire. It is an object lesson in how ornament can remain disciplined rather than ornamental for its own sake.
