About
A local guide to a city that still learns from its own beauty.

Arkitekten Ålesund began with a simple question: why walk through a city without noticing the way it was built? The city’s Jugendstil homes are among the most distinctive early-20th-century architecture in Norway, but they are easy to pass by without understanding the story behind them.
We offer guided tours built around patience, looking closely, and letting the façades speak. We like a slower rhythm than the usual city walk: a stop for a carved detail, a brief look at the port, an aim to connect building style with the events that shaped the town itself.
After the fire of 1904, Ålesund rose again not in a uniform way but in a city of good taste, timber, and bold imagination. What remains today is not just a heritage asset; it is a living place where craftsmanship still matters, and where the stories of rebuilding can still be felt on the street.
